Yes, that’s right. At the top of my concerns as a future parent is what my child will make of Jar-Jar Binks. In fact, why not the entire Star Wars Prequel Trilogy? Of course, there won’t be talk of Episodes I-III in our house, but I’m worried about what he or she will hear on the playground…
“The Bump”
At least that’s the way it seemed to happen. One day it wasn’t there, the next day it was!
I’m really looking forward to this coming weekend (May 25/26) as I’ll be exhibiting at the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival (VanCAF for short). If it’s anything like last year (which I’m quite certain it will be), there will a tremendous amount of talent present to showcase their work. The diversity of artists/creators guarantees that there’ll be something for everybody, so if you’re in the area, come by and check it out. Best of all, it’s free! Lastly, posts over the next few weeks are likely to sporadic, as I’ve just begun two Master’s courses, crunch time approaches at work, and we’re set to move at the end of June. So if you’re wondering where I am, rest assured I’m probably having no fun at all. I’m hoping to get a few strips cranked out in that time, just not at the same regularity. Hopefully all will be back to normal by the end of June!
“Mother’s Day”
Laura was certainly not expecting anything for Mother’s Day, and she would not have given it another thought if I hadn’t given her any flowers. That said, I banked some serious points today, that is until she read this comic.
“Exhaustion”
We were out last Friday night when Laura looked at her watch and realized that she was still wide awake past 9:30 PM (a remarkable feat for Laura, pregnant or not). Needless to say, she’s quite thrilled to be past this point in her pregnancy. On that note, so am I!
“Perspectives”
As promised, this week features a very special guest writer, Laura herself!
I left Laura to man the table to Vancouver Fan Expo last weekend, and suggested that while I was gone she write a strip. This is what she came up with! Of course, she wouldn’t let me post the original drawing that she did, but I stayed true to her vision and followed her draft to the letter. She claims this is a one-time deal, but I kinda liked seeing things from her perspective. What do you say? You wanna see more?
“Semantics”
If anything, this weekend’s FanExpo in Vancouver gave me a chance to catch up on some comicking, which allowed me to get this out on time! I displayed this piece once I’d finished working on it, and the very first person person to speak to me afterwards asked me if ‘we’ (meaning Laura and I, natch!) were pregnant. Ah….

“The Married Life”
I’m super excited about this weekend’s FanExpo in Vancouver! This is the second year running, and if last year’s crowds are any indication, this is gonna be big! Comics greats Stan Lee, Neal Adams and others will be in attendance, along with a slew of media guests like that guy from the movie Rudy and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s stunt double. Oh yeah, and I’ll be there too, exhibiting under the ‘Ink Spill Press’ banner! Copies of the new Laura Knows Best mini-comic, The Married Life, will be available for purchase, along with some other goodies. Should be fun!

Hopefully the wait hasn’t been too painful. The last couple of months of have insanely busy for me, and unfortunately making comics was placed on the back burner. Hopefully that can change as Laura and I are about to embark on a minefield of comic mishaps!

Is it just me, or would this make a spectacular action figure? Just think of all the cool accessories that would come with it! Perhaps it could come in the same series as “Bachelor Party Brett,” “Wedding Day Laura,” and “Sleep Deprived Cody.” I’m getting excited just thinking about it!
“The Patrol”
When Aiden was first born, Marlon was posting on Facebook quite regularly using a lot of military-type jargon to describe how he and Maddy were dealing with the new addition to their family. I kept on imagining Marlon in full military gear with a variety of purpose-built equipment to tackle the challenges of messy clean-ups and the like. So here was my chance to make that become reality.
